We've Been Building
Hello readers,
Have you been busy? We’ve been busy.
If you’ve continued to hang around the Bitcoin and crypto spheres since we last talked (2022!), you’ve likely heard this phrase more than a couple times:
Bear markets are for building.
What does that mean, exactly? (Stick around for the end of this letter where we have a big announcement. It’s something the Womxn In Crypto built just for YOU).
Bear markets provide the perfect opportunity to strategize future plans and refine our work. This is the time to apply what we’ve learned and get our hands dirty. The ideas that succeed through all of this, the ones that prevail through difficulties, allow new room for growth.
And we know many of you have been doing just that: enduring some tough moments, dealt some rough hands, but hopefully experiencing many beautiful and exciting moments, too.
All the while, just waiting for Bitcoin to do its thing.
There’s been lots of volatility since the 2021 all-time high: peaks and valleys, rumors and chaos. This can be scary, but it can also serve as a healthy reminder that nothing in this arena is easily predictable. The regulatory environment has begun to adapt, and institutions have stepped forward to adopt much of this new tech.
It was exciting to see Bitcoin reach that high of $69k once more just days ago. But again, we’re reminded there are still many unknowns ahead.
If you’re familiar with the concept of “bear markets for building,” you’ve also probably heard about the Bitcoin halving, or halvening: a pre-planned event where the reward for mining Bitcoin is cut in half. This year’s halving is highly anticipated by investors, analysts, institutions, and players in the Bitcoin mining space.
In a matter of weeks we could see changes in price action in either direction. It will be fascinating to see how this year’s halving compares to previous ones, and to what extent these newer Bitcoin and crypto products have been priced into the market.
Now like we mentioned, we’ve been VERY busy – creating something special just for you!
Together, we compiled the best of our newsletter gems along with some new concepts and personal reflections – bringing these thoughts together into a book that we’re calling Chain Mail: Newsletter Correspondence on Bitcoin and Blockchain Tech.
Much like the trends that burst onto the scene in the 1990s (chain mail not withstanding!), the advent of cryptocurrency has brought with it exciting new tech, some lasting and some fleeting. It’s up to us as individuals to decide what is truly valuable.
BOOK SUMMARY:
Our goal is to help you understand the nuanced world of Bitcoin and the broader spectrum of digital currencies so that we can all succeed together.
From cypherpunk history and hash functions to DeFi and IoT, this collection explores key blockchain topics from the perspectives of two women in crypto.
Chain Mail serves as a time capsule for the first decade in cryptocurrency, paying homage to the innovators behind decentralized tech and discussing what it takes for an idea to change the world.

Note: The paperback versions across several distributors have had substantial printing delays, leading to backorders that can take a long time to fulfill. Hopefully this will resolve itself soon, but we can’t guarantee it. Please keep in mind that if you order a paperback now from sites that list it as backordered (or hardcover format off Amazon), you may be waiting awhile.
We will update you as soon as the manufacturers of backordered versions begin printing.
If there’s one thing we learned during the bear market, it’s that women have the power to build successful lives, families, and businesses… but only if we do it together.
What have you learned these past two years? We want to know. Leave us a comment below.
